We all woke up to yet another beautiful summer’s day……in October! I challenge anyone to say that this summer was rubbish…..where has all the rain been?!

Joanna and Ryan’s wedding day was no different. From the moment I arrived at Ryan’s parent’s house to photograph the preparations everything was calm….and that is how it remained for the rest of the day.

After a wonderful service by the Rev Ronnie Mechanic of St. Mary’s Church in Barton Mills we all headed for The Grange at Thurston near Bury St. Edmunds for the wedding breakfast. The balmy temperatures meant that the guests could enjoy the well-manicured gardens long into the night.

Some of my favourite moments from Joanna & Ryan’s day….

Emma and the Homemade Robot…..they’re making the finishing touches to their debut single and I got to do their photoshoot for the cover!

After scoping out the location and going along to an accoustic gig to hear their music for the first time, Emma, Ross and I met up early on  Friday morning and, fuelled by coffee, and made these images around some choice spots in Cambridge.

Daniel & Megan chose the beautifully kept and superbly managed Barrington Hall as the venue for their wonderful wedding day. Megan chose her two closest friends as bridesmaids but it wasn’t until the speeches that I realised they had known eachother all their lives.

What was also apparent was the closeness of the family. Megan and Daniel had chosen to get married on a Wednesday – not your classic choice for most brides – but it was the date that was special. Wednesday 12th October would have been Megan’s Grandparent’s wedding anniversary and it was clear they were very dear to Megan. A photo of both sets of grandparents on their wedding days were inserted into a locket and tied into her beautiful wedding bouquet.A very fitting tribute to such well loved people.

Having booked me for their wedding next year (thank you guys!) Olly & Carly wanted a ‘Save the Date’ card to bagsy all of their friends for their special day.

We settled on a vintage theme and set out around Cambridge to get some shots before heading back to their place for a ‘photo-booth’ style shoot to create their cards with.

Restaurant quality pizza from a mobile oven? Surely not…….

Well, yes, that is exactly what you get from Fired Up. And when I say ‘restaurant’ quality I’m not talking about the ‘Hut’ version. And when I say ‘oven’ I’m not talking an electric appliance run from a generator.

These pizzas are lovingly made only with fresh dough and top quality, fresh ingredients. These thin bases are stone baked in a specialist, wood fired oven and the result is fantastic flavours on a beautifully cooked, thin base.

Just perfect for your evening wedding guests – a really great alternative to the buffet or hog roast. Give them a try!

I met the Tom’s Kitchenteam at one of the wonderful weddings I shot in August. As a photographer you get to see a lot of catering operations in action and I was particularly impressed with Tom and his team. Not only were they extremely efficient but the food was lovingly presented and (I can confirm!) tasted wonderful!

They are a catering company who pride themselves on providing top quality food, created with locally sourced ingredients.

They’ll provide everything you need for your wedding breakfast but they also cater for parties and other occasions (both private and corporate). Why not try out their cookery school?!

Hannah wanted me to capture her new baby girl at 6 months old – the same age she’d had her first little girl photographed. So we arranged a shoot a morning session at their home where the girls would be comfortable and feel at ease. We spent a lovely morning together and here are some of the results.

I was recently introduced to Jonathan Waterman, The Complete Toastmaster, as we will be soon be working together on a wedding at Brocket Hall, Welwyn. Jonathan is first and foremost a Toastmaster and Master Of Ceremonies but his expertise extends into co-ordinating events, be it a wedding or corporate function. First impressions are that Jonathan is passionate about his work but he brings with this passion an element of fun and a relaxed manner which makes you feel totally at ease in his company.

I’ll share some images of the wedding and of Jonathan at a later date.

Nancy and Rory were already married when they approached me to photograph their big day. Unusual you might think? I’d be inclined to agree with you if I didn’t already know their story.

A few years ago they received some devastating news. Nancy was diagnosed with cancer and the prognosis wasn’t good. They had just had their second child together and, to cement their relationship, had a quiet wedding. However, after a long, hard fight Nancy made a full recovery and they were ready to have the wedding they had dreamed of to celebrate their marriage and Nancy’s miraculous recovery.

What started out as a small affair turned into a massive great party! Why? Well, Nancy won a competition with The Times newspaper to have a Vivienne Westwood dress made especially for her. They also made a matching one for her daughter. Now they needed a party to fit the dress.

So, they decided to have a blessing and combined it with a naming ceremony for their two gorgeous children. They chose Wimpole Hall as the backdrop for their ceremony followed by a reception at the Gastropub The Blue Lion in Hardwick, Cambridge. Surrounded by their closest family and friends, people who had stayed with them through the darkest times, they created a wonderful day. Here are a few of my favourite moments from their day.
