I purchsed a new set of studio lights and wanted to put them through their paces to see what could be achieved. I talked my two good friends, Gemma and Suzy into coming to Cambridge for a photo shoot. They went vintage for an afternoon and here are a few of my favourites…..

Stephanie & Tom’s Engagement Shoot, The Manor Barns, Harlton, Cambridge

I met up with this handsome pair over at their reception venue, The Manor Barn in the lovely little village of Harlton just a few miles West of Cambridge. The Manor Barn is part of a working farm and overlooks wonderful fields. Steph and Tom were complete naturals in front of the camera and we had some fun around the village in the evening sunshine.

Emily & Jonny’s Engagement Shoot, Anstey Hall, Cambridge

The hot weather continues and this Sunday I spent the morning over at the wonderful Anstey Hall in Trumpington, Cambridge. Emily & Jonny are getting married here in early August so we caught up for their engagement shoot………their gorgeous little girl just stole the show!

Betsy & Jasper

It was Betsy’s first photo shoot but her big brother Jasper was ready to show her the ropes. It’s a little early to tell what Besty will grow up to be but I’ve got a hunch that Jasper is going to have something to do with trucks……very large trucks.

Gail & Marcus got married in Eastbourne

They chose the perfect weekend for their big day. The sun shone for the entire weekend, the sea was like a mill pond and there was the most gentle breeze drifting in off the sea. Just enough to keep things cool.

We snuck off to the beach front for a little photo session in between the ceremony and the reception.

Claire & Steve’s Engagement shoot, Great Wilbraham Hall Barn, Cambridge

With just a few weeks to go I met up with Claire & Steve at their chosen reception venue, the lovely Great Wilbraham Hall Barn, to scope out the place and take a few pre-wedding shots. I had a great time with these two lovelies, we had a relaxed session and I’m really looking forward to their wedding day.

Linton Book Festival

My web designer, Andrew Clark of Nextnorth Ltd (who comes very highly recommended), asked me if I would photograph the Linton Children’s Book Festival 2010. The festival is a week long event providing free and engaging activities for children to enjoy. I jumped at the chance!

This is the festival’s 3rd year and took place between 1st and 9th May. It has proven incredibly popular again this year. If you have not managed to get along to the festival, take a look at their blog and see what you have missed. Then become a fan on Facebook and keep your eyes peeled for next year.

Amongst the line up this year were children’s authors, Pete Johnson (How To Train Your Parents) and Narinda Dharmi (Bend It Like Beckham), children’s poet John Foster and the Sir Peter Blake (of Sgt Pepper album artwork fame) Art Bus paid a visit. There was storytelling, Indian dancing and Manga workshops. The wonderful Fairyland Trust were also there doing what they do best – teaching children about nature and conservation through storytelling and other activities.

Getting flash in Manchester

So I got some new kit and needed a day of intense practise to get to know how to use it. I met up with a few other like-minded photographers, a tutor and a model and we shot our way around Manchester using flash. Barely a cloud in the sky but a bite to the breeze. Here are some of my favourites:

Commercial Shoot for Roy Essandoh – Personal Trainer

I occasionally dip my toe into the commercial world of photography and this time was a re-visit from a previous client, Roy Essandoh who works as a personal trainer in Cambridge. My first meeting with Roy was last year when he needed some shots for his new web site.

A few weeks ago, Roy got in touch again and this time the brieft was to get some more shots to refresh the web site and some images for a promotion flyer he is producing. We met up at his gym, after hours, with one of his clients and got to work.
